Stairlift Features & Options

How do I know which stairlift is right for me?

During the free home survey, we will discuss the options available and work with you to ensure you are provided with a stairlift that is most suitable for your needs.

Does a stairlift have a maximum weight capacity?

The weight capacity on a standard stairlift ranges between 19 – 23 stone. Our heavy duty stairlifts have a maximum capacity of 30 stone.

What safety features come with a stairlift?

Our stairlifts feature the following safety features including:

  • Secure seatbelt
  • Safety sensors – will stop the lift if it encounters an obstruction on the stairs
  • Maximum speed setting
  • Swivel seat for safe departure at the top of the stairs

Can I specify the colour of my stairlift?

Our straight stairlifts are available in neutral tones. Our curved stairlift rails and seats are available in a variety of colours.

Stairlift Installation

How quickly can a stairlift be fitted?

A straight stairlift can be supplied and fitted within a day or two. If you require a curved stairlift, it will take approximately three weeks from date of order.

How long does installation take?

Installation of a stairlift takes between 3-4 hours. If a step alteration is required or a relocation of a radiator, we often send the carpenter/plumber in prior to sending our engineers.

Which side of stairs is the stairlift fitted?

The side of stairs is determined by which is more suitable and allows most clearing for users.

Will the stairlift be fitted to my wall?

The stairlift rail is fitted to the steps on your stairs, not the wall.

Can a stairlift be fitted if there’s a door or radiator at the bottom of stairs?

Yes, if there is a door at the bottom of the stairs, we would install a stairlift with a powered folding hinge rail, which would automatically fold up out of the way, allowing clearance at the bottom. If there is a radiator at the bottom, we would have it relocated.

My stairs are very narrow, will a stairlift fit?

Our stairlifts are the most slimline available on the market and fit all kinds of stairs, even if your stairs are exceptionally narrow, there are always options to get you upstairs!

My stairs have several turns, will a stairlift fit?

Yes, our curved stairlifts are made to order and precisely fit your stairs therefore it does not matter how many turns there are on your staircase.

Can other people climb the stairs after the lift has been fitted?

Yes, all our stairlifts are the most slimline lifts available on the market. The stairlifts fold away neatly, providing ample space for other people to continue using the stairs as normal.

Stairlift Prices

How much do stairlifts cost?

The most significant aspect that determines the price of a stairlift is the type of stairs you have. A straight stairlift will cost substantially less than a curved. A curved stairlift is a bespoke product and can cost up to three times that of a straight lift! New straight stairlift prices start from approximately €2,000 + IVA.

Are stairlifts expensive to run?

No, stairlifts are not expensive to run whatsoever. The electricity cost incurred from a stairlift is minimal and would be the same as charging your mobile phone.

What payment methods do you accept?

Cash, cheque, bank draft and all Visa and Mastercard payments. 40% deposit is required to proceed with an order with the deposit due on the day of installation.

Second Hand Stairlifts

Do you sell second hand stairlifts?

Yes, we sell reconditioned stairlifts, all our reconditioned stairlifts are less than two years old and come with a full one year parts and labour warranty, giving you peace of mind. At present, we do not supply second hand platform or outdoor stairlifts.

Do reconditioned stairlifts come with a guarantee?

Yes, our second hand stairlifts are fully reconditioned and come with a one-year parts and labour warranty and ten year motor warranty.

Operating a Stairlift

How easy is the stairlifts to use?

Stairlifts are extremely user friendly, you can control the seat using a remote control, like using a remote for the TV.

How will I know how to work the stairlift?

Our engineers will provide you with a detailed demonstration when they have installed the stairlift. They will answer any questions you have and provide you with a manual to keep, should you need to refer to it in the future.

Is a stairlift noisy?

No. There is a low noise when using the stairlift, however this is minimal.

Will the stairlift work if there is a power cut?

All stairlifts are battery driven. On average you will get up to 15 journeys if the power goes, presuming your stairlift is fully charged. View our power cut guide for further details. The batteries in a stairlift last approximately 2 – 4 years, it really depends on usage. If the stairlift is not being used regularly, it is important that you operate the stairlift one or twice a week to ensure that the batteries do not deplete.

I am upstairs but the stairlift is downstairs, what do I do?

If you require the stairlift to travel to you, be it top or bottom, you can simply use the remote control to send the stairlift back up the stairs. All new stairlifts come with two remote controls for you to have one upstairs and downstairs.

How is a stairlift powered?

A stairlift is battery driven and will continue to function during a power cut (for up to approx. 20 journeys). You must keep your stairlift on charge when not in use. If you do not keep it charged, the batteries will deplete and need replacement, incurring a call-out charge. If the stairlift is not being used regularly, it is important that you operate the stairlift one or twice a week to ensure that the batteries do not deplete.

Warranty, Service & Repair

Will my stairlift come with a warranty?

Yes, all new stairlifts come with a ten year motor warranty and two-year parts and labour warranty. All reconditioned lifts come with a ten year motor warranty and one-year parts and labour warranty.

Can you supply broken/lost parts (e.g. remote controls)?

All our new stairlifts come with a two-year parts and labour warranty, this would cover any broken parts free of charge. However, regardless of if you still have warranty on your lift or not we can repair and replace any parts you may need. We often call out and repair stairlifts that other companies have previously installed regardless of makes and models.

What happens if my stairlift breaks down?
